(Artikelnr: ROM-068-460)
Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Denarius 19mm, 2.65 g. Rome mint. Struck AD 214. Laureate and bearded head right / Liberalitas standing left, holding abacus and cornucopia. RIC IV 302. Good Very Fine, well centered, lightly toned.

Caracalla, son of Septimius Severus, is best known for issuing the Constitutio Antoniniana, granting Roman citizenship to all free men in the empire. His reign was also marked by violence and autocracy. Caracalla’s coinage features themes of military power, Sol Invictus, and divine protection, and is often struck with bold, expressive portraits.
